Born in Gwangju, South Korea, Young Nam Kim has been creating award-winning works of art since he won his first national art competition in the sixth grade.

Young Nam Kim is an award-winning artist, accomplished entrepreneur, and children's author whose journey embodies the American dream. Born in South Korea, Kim immigrated to the United States over 40 years ago, settling in Oakland, California, where he would leave an indelible mark on the community and arts scene.

A visionary in both business and art, Kim co-founded Oakland's vibrant Koreatown and established the first art gallery in downtown Oakland in the early 1980s. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to success in various fields, including running the beloved "Henry's Cafe" and building a 40-year career as a respected architect and general contractor in the Bay Area.

Throughout his professional life, Kim never lost sight of his artistic passions. In 2021, his contributions to the community and the arts were recognized when he was honored as an "Unsung Hero" by the Asian Hustle Network.Now retired, Kim has embarked on a new creative journey as a children's author.

His debut book, "A Very Long Journey," features unique 3D clay sculpture illustrations, blending his artistic skills with storytelling to create a work that resonates with both children and adults.
